Fakers, Takers and Breakers: How Hate and Untruth Destroys Relationships, Communities and Connection (Session Two)
Andrew, our CEO, will take a deep dive into what the latest scientific research tells us about how social media echo chambers and our 21st century media exposure amplifies conspiracy theories, errant nonsense and sows division, stoking hatred and disconnection. We’ll link this the what is happening in our brains when we experience and engage with fear-soaked content, designed to incite hatred and division. We’ll look how the sad are scared by the bad so we all get even more mad (angry) and hate just increases. The solution to hate isn’t more hate, hate x hate = more hate. The solution is love, empathy, connection and understanding. The solution is living in our brains with metacognition and self-awareness.
